ABOUT GARY
I have been active in the Alberta Film and Television Industry for over 30 years.
Graduating from Mount Royal University in Calgary with a Broadcasting Degree my initial indoctrination in the industry was working as a Sound Engineer for Access Network. This was a Government run Educational Television Station where I eventually worked my way up to head of the sound department. My main responsibility was having the creative pleasure of mixing the post sound for over hundreds of television shows.
During this time period I started up a sound studio called In Ear Sounds. It was a 24 track-recording studio and center of musical creativity for independent music. We produced a multitude of songs and demos for local bands. It was a wonderful time to be in love with the arts and I was able to explore creative visual and sound pursuits as one of the first members of Em-Media, an artist run video production society in Calgary. I was active artist presenting various works in exhibitions over the years.
In 1991 I formed Bruckner Sound Design where I worked in both disciplines’ of post production sound and location sound recording. With a an increasing work load I eventually had to focus on location sound where I have had the pleasure to travel the world and hone my craft working on numerous international and national award winning shows. Having extensive experience in all aspects of my field helps ensured technically accurate location sound to facilitate a smooth post production sound process. I have worked for all the major television networks and have received numerous Ampia and Gemini nominations. I am currently a guest lecturer on sound production for television at Mount Royal University. My professional memberships include IATSE, AES, Socan, ACCT and Ampia.
